WM Capture – recording hints – 101

Using Google Chrome Canary browser

We recommend using the Google Chrome Canary browser for recording instead of your regular browser. It is not a good idea to use your regular browser for recording especially if you are having multiple tabs or need to disable hardware acceleration. Google Canary browser provides a better way to record videos from your screen.

Aside from avoiding issues with your regular browser, WM Capture will be able to record all videos using the enhanced recording features of the Background mode including UHD/4K recording without disabling the video acceleration.

Step 1 – Download Canary browser

Download Canary browser from https://www.google.com/intl/en_pk/chrome/canary/
In the Canary downloading window click Download Chrome Canary. Then click ChromeSetup.exe in the left lower side of the browser window to begin the installation. Installation only takes a few minutes.

Step 2 – Create Canary shortcut

When installation is finished WM Capture displays the message “WMC Canary installed. Click OK to create Canary shortcut for recording”. This makes our Canary shortcut dedicated for recording. When you right click the WMC Canary shortcut and open the Properties you must see the comment “Google Chrome Canary browser for recording”.

If the message above is not shown when Canary installation is finished, click the Options on WM Capture main screen, then click Google Chrome Canary browser, Create Canary shortcut.

If a Google Canary icon was placed in your taskbar following the Canary installation or upgrade delete this icon.

Step 3 – Open Canary browser

Click the Option button on WM Capture main screen then click Google Chrome Canary browser, Open Canary browser.

The option above guarantees that the opened Canary is the Canary browser you should be using for recording. This browser will not require disabling the hardware acceleration. The Canary icon on the desktop can also be used if this is the “Google Chrome Canary browser for recording” created by WM Capture as shown above.
