WMC 10v12 recording modes D3D mode (D3D) is the recommended recording mode
particularly on Windows 11. It supports recording high-motion videos, 2K or
4K movies, also video games at frame rates up to 60 fps while keeping CPU
usage low. D3D
recording mode was introduced because recent software updates from Google and
Microsoft disabled WM Capture Background recording mode. The primary
purpose of WM Capture is to provide high-quality recording of any video
displayed on your screen, focusing on direct capture and scheduling of
streaming movies. While it can also record video games, there are certain
limitations. Our current tests show that games played on single and dual
monitor setups can be effectively recorded on Windows systems using Direct3D
(more details available here). If
NVIDIA drivers are installed, refer to the NVIDIA Control Panel setup tips
found in WM Capture Options for additional suggestions. Screen Capture mode (CAP) is a screen capture option available
on all Windows versions, Intel and AMD Windows computers. It can record
high-quality HD videos when Quick Sync is enabled, which is present on all
Windows 10 and 11 machines. However, it may not perform well with 2K or 4K
videos. Background mode (BCK) is the recommended recording mode for
Windows 10 but can also be used on Windows 7 and 8. It is no longer
compatible with the Chrome and Edge browsers on Windows 11. This mode, a
unique feature developed by WM Capture, can deliver performance similar to
D3D but with reduced CPU usage. It performs best when Intel Quick Sync is
enabled, available on all Windows 10 and 11 systems. BCK mode is the only
recording option that allows: ·
capturing windows that may be obscured by
other windows, allowing the recording window to remain invisible and enabling
the computer screen to serve other purposes simultaneously ·
recording a video while
playing other videos on your screen and speakers (video/audio rerouting) ·
recorded motion video quality
and frame rates similar to D3D recording (Shame on Microsoft and
Google for disabling the Windows features required to support the Background
mode and the Google Chrome Canary browser on Windows 11 after more than a
decade of use.) Additional
