NOTE: the statements below do not apply to the D3D recording mode introduced in WM Capture version 10.12 and later. Using D3D, you can record movies and games at HD, 2K, and 4K resolutions with higher frame rates of 30, 60, and up to 100 fps. Apart from the Scheduler, all the features described here pertain only to the Screen Capture mode and are not applicable to the D3D mode.

NOTE: as of June 2025, the Google Chrome Canary browser will no longer work as a second WM Capture browser on Windows 11. We're trying to deal with this unexpected Google blunder in a future WM Capture version. The information below can only be used if the Chrome Canary browser is fully operational. Click Options, Get the best recordings

· Use H264/MP4 video format – Intel Quick Sync or Nvidia
Necessary for UHD (2K/4K) recording, reduces CPU loading by 50%, best video quality for half the recording file size.

· Use the Background mode – video image can be covered by other windows or completely hidden. Must be used when recording UHD (2K/4K) videos. Used when rerouting video and audio.

· Disable graphics acceleration – always necessary for recording streaming movies

· Use Google Chrome Canary – use this Google browser for recording instead of your regular browser
Necessary for recording streaming movies without disabling graphic acceleration and for video/audio rerouting

· Use Picture in Picture – watch or record videos while playing other videos on your computer screen

· Reroute video/audio recording – so you can play and record multiple videos or audio at the same time without interference
